Location: Kasulu office, Kigoma – Tanzania

Type of Contract: Full time volunteers, 40 Hours per week

Expected Starting date: 1st September 2025

The website https://mydia-tz.org/ is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that works to give Tanzanian youth the tools they need to generate positive change via livelihoods, education, and health. Our primary objective is to improve and encourage high living conditions for Tanzanian youth.

Volunteer Finance Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to general administration or operations duties, the Finance Officer will report to the Head of Finance and Administration and be responsible for all aspects of bookkeeping and accounts, procurement support, asset tracking and control, and efficient financial reporting processing in a timely, accurate, relevant, and informative manner.

  1. Ensure Governmental financial and Tax related compliances, for all staff.
  2. Preparing financial reports and ensure timely submission to the Management and Donors.
  3. Ensure Donor compliance for all Grants/funded projects including reporting guidelines, templates and timelines.
  4. Support daily accounting transactions, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  5. Ensure budget planning, preparation, revisions, and execution.
  6. Preparing payment requests and ensuring they are sent to the appropriate people for review and approval.
  7. Establishing and maintaining internal control procedures, and ensuring that accounting standards are met.
  8. Represent Mydia-Tz in external financial management related meetings/workshops and networks.

Qualifications and Competencies/Attributes

The volunteer Finance Officer is expected to have, but not limited to the following qualities;

  1. University Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business administration.
  2. Master’s Degree is an added advantage.

Competencies and Attributes for all roles o Proven track-record of managing organizational or project budgets.

  1. At least two-years previous volunteer experience within a similar position, preferably working with NGOs/INGOs.
  2. Good writing skills, time manager and Excellent attention to details o Computer literacy, expert on Ms. applications especially word and Excel o Excellent interpersonal skills, proven team building, organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
  3. Innovative, flexible, disciplined, goal-oriented and willing to learn.

Office Offer:

It should be noted that Mydia-Tz is a tiny organization that collaborates voluntarily with many parties. While we appreciate the unwavering work that our volunteers do, budgetary restrictions prevent the organization from paying wages or benefits other than communication allowances, unless a staff member is expressly engaged on a funded project.

This is a volunteer role, and successfully candidates will work physically at office, on a full time basis. The office will only offer office space, basic working equipment, internet and a monthly communication allowance, as per our Mydia-Tz policies.

Our preferences:

Candidates who currently reside in Kasulu town, in the Kigoma Region of Tanzania, and who has expertise or talents in financial, administrative, and operations management will be given preference.

Qualified young women aged below 35 years old and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
